On Wednesday 2 and Thursday 3 October, the History department made its annual visit to Chepstow Castle with record numbers attending. Around 150 Year 11 History students converged on the castle to participate in their GCSE History fieldwork study. Students were given a tour of the castle by our charismatic guide Neil, who delivered his usual fascinating and entertaining stories about its history, which kept them captivated from start to finish.

Those who attended on the Wednesday were fortunate to enjoy glorious weather, as Chepstow Castle looked even more magnificent than usual basking in the early October sun. As is custom the students were treated to a weapons display highlighting the brutality of medieval warfare which thrilled and terrified them in equal measures.

This was a thoroughly enjoyable experience for all, and one which will stand them in good stead for their exam at the end of the year.

Kenneth King, Head of History
