Thank you to Maddie Eccles in Year 12 for kindly decorating our Prometheus sculpture for Christmas.  Maddie used materials from The Little Flower Company in Frome and The Granary in Bradford on Avon.

There are only four Prometheus Hearth sculptures in the world and one of them adorns the University of Cambridge.  The late John Robinson, who sculpted the hearths quoted, “The hearth was modern man’s first home, and the light from the fire must have turned the dark evenings into the classroom for speech. The miracle of communication is the tool of our success as a species”.

Our thanks also go to Chris Curtis, former Maths teacher at Frome College, who funded the foliage.  He said, “I am very happy to see that Frome College continues to go from strength to strength academically and also continues to flourish from a community perspective giving a real sense of belonging for students, thanks to the fantastic staff. John and Margie Robinson would have been proud to see the beautiful Prometheus Hearth sculpture looking very festive thanks to Maddie and her friends”.
