On the 26 & 27 September, 120 Year 11 History students converged on Chepstow Castle to participate in their GCSE History fieldwork study.

Students enjoyed a fascinating tour of the castle by our charismatic guide Neil who regaled them with tales from the past which had them captivated from start to finish.

Chepstow Castle looked even more magnificent than usual as it basked in the late September sun.  The students were treated to a weapons display highlighting the brutality of medieval warfare which thrilled and terrified them in equal measures. They were all fully engaged throughout the day and demonstrated impressive knowledge of the castle and medieval war strategies when questioned by our host. Some students were even brave enough to don some medieval armour and handle weapons.  This was a thoroughly enjoyable experience for all and one which will stand them in good stead for their exam at the end of the year.
