Congratulations to the Frome College teams in the Cybercenturion Final in London on 8 March.
Team ‘Vault 7’ - Tom Haines, Matt Haines, Connor Cairns, Hamish Murray, Jake Howell - were awarded 3rd Prize in the competition! The boys received a (very heavy) silver trophy, together with individual medals.

The 2nd Frome College team ‘<insert name here>’  (yes, that is their actual name!) - Joe Malley, Morgan Curle, Dylan Oliver, Adam Kerslake - were awarded the 7th Prize.

Both teams did really well just to get to the final against increasingly stiff competition of 260 teams from UK and overseas territories.  The 10 finalist teams who took part were the highest scoring teams at the end of a series of 3 (6 hour long), online qualifying rounds which took place between October and January.

This is the 3rd consecutive year that Frome College has had teams in the final of the competition - No mean feat for our students!  The finals took place at the Institute of Engineering & Technology at Savoy Place, London - which was an experience in itself.

The awards were presented to the students by Oliver Dowden CBE MP, Minister for Implementation, Cabinet Office. Oliver is responsible for ‘all things cyber’ in the UK.
We would like to thank the sponsors of the competition - Northrop Grumman, for such an amazing experience, and who paid for the very nice accommodation at The Strand Palace Hotel, on top of contributing the costs of hosting the final.
Report by Maggie Love, Cybercenturion Project Lead
Steve Marsh, DofE Coordinator, who accompanied the group on the trip said: “On behalf of Frome College, I would like to thank Maggie Love for her commitment to this project. Her coaxing, encouragement, training and enthusiasm to guide the students through to the finals over the years is outstanding. All the students involved showed high levels of competence and commitment to this competition. My congratulations go to the boys - they should seriously be considering careers in IT. Maggie and the teams should all be proud of their achievements - 3rd & 7th in a national final is fantastic!
